More info

Saundersia's Pachypodium (from the Greek pachys "thick" and podium "leg").

It is a succulent from the toinaceae family that occurs naturally in Madagascar and Namibia. Most of the species found in Madagascar are threatened with extinction. This plant produces a thick stump called caudex, which stores water during dry periods. At the top, the plant produces a "palm tree" of leaves, and the entire trunk is covered with hard spines, grouped in 2 or 3 groups. Like any succulent plant, it requires "wintering" to bloom. This means that in winter you need to place the plant in a bright place, significantly reduce watering and lower the temperature to about 12-15 degrees Celsius.
